Keyboard Navigation

Using the keyboard for navigation is often handy and quick to use.

There are a few simple techniques for navigating in this way:

  • The backspace (delete) key can be used in the same way as the back button in your browser. Using shift + backspace works in the same way as the forward page button.
  • The tab key can be used to navigate through links. Each successive keypress will take you to the next available link in the page. Using shift + tab reverses this effect and moves to the previous link.
  • Accesskeys as described earlier are very handy and can be quicker to use than mouse navigation.
  • The up and down cursor keys (arrows) can be used to scroll the page up and down rather than having to use the scroll bar.
